ALGONQUIN, IL — Local police departments are adjusting their protocol to do their part in slowing the spread of the new coronavirus, authorities said this past week. The Algonquin and Lake in the Hills police departments are encouraging residents to report non-emergency matters via telephone to reduce the potential exposure of COVID-19 to police officers and the community, according to posts on the Algonquin and Lake in the Hills police departments Facebook pages.

Authorities will continue to respond to emergency and high priority issues that effect life safety in person, authorities said. Non-emergency calls include theft reports, damage to property and fraud.
