Algonquin Man Charged With Possession of Heroin

A search of a South Elgin home turned up six grams of heroin, .27 grams of cocaine and 12 hydrocodone pills, authorities said.

Two men were charged last week with possessing illegal heroin and other drugs, prosecutors said Friday.

Vincent A. Incaprera, 23, of the 1000 block of West Kane Street, South Elgin, is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class 1 felony, and three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, each a Class 4 felony.

Co-defendant Antoni S. Wojtaszczyk, 36, of the 1-99 block of Portsmith Court, Algonquin, is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, each a Class 4 felony.

On the afternoon of Jan. 4, Kane County Sheriff’s detectives and South Elgin police detectives served a warrant at Incaprera’s residence in South Elgin. A search revealed more than six grams of heroin, .27 grams of cocaine and 12 hydrocodone pills, according to a Kane County State's Attorney's Office press release.

The heroin and cocaine were packaged in multiple individual plastic bags. During the search, detectives learned that Wojtaszczyk, who was present, also was in possession of illegal drugs, and that Incaprera and Wojtaszczyk had just returned from Chicago, where they had purchased heroin. A search of Wojtaszczyk revealed 1.75 grams of heroin and nine morphine pills on his person.

Incaprera and Wojtaszczyk appeared Friday in Kane County bond court. Bail for Incaprera was set at $50,000 with 10 percent ($5,000) to apply for bond. His next court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Jan. 13, 2017, in Courtroom 305 at the Kane County Judicial Center in front of Associate Judge Linda Abrahamson.

Bail for Wojtaszczyk was set at $15,000 with 10 percent ($1,500) to apply for bond. His next court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Jan. 18, 2017, in Courtroom 313 in front of Circuit Judge James C. Hallock. Wojtaszczyk was released on his promise to appear in court. Incaprera remains in the Kane County jail.

Kane County Sheriff’s Detectives conducted the investigation with assistance from South Elgin Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
