Nearly 10,000 participants from across the country competed in the Life Time Tri Chicago, the country’s largest triathlon, on August 26 in downtown Chicago. The 30th annual event brought together amateur and professional athletes alike to swim, bike and run their way to the finish line with top contenders in 11 age groups.

The event took place in downtown Chicago’s lakefront with outstanding views of the city and waterfront. The triathlon was part of a weekend-long series of events and was available in the sprint or international distance. The Sprint distance consisted of a .75-kilometer swim, a 22-kilometer bike and a 5-kilometer run. The International distance consisted of a 1.5-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometerbike and a 10-kilometer run. The Life Time Tri Chicago is the fifth event in the Race to the Toyota Cup Series
