McHenry County College (MCC) will host the Early Childhood Educators’ Conference from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 in the Luecht Conference Center at MCC, 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14 in Crystal Lake. This conference is McHenry County’s leading event on benchmarking early childhood best practices and will feature children’s performer Tom Pease as keynote speaker and workshop presenter.
Pease will give participants practical tools through song, movement and humor, to reinforce children’s wondrous sense of fun and play, their sense of community and their sense of hope. Woven through each of his appearances are underlying themes of respect for one another and our world, the importance of community and the power of laughing together.
Pease started singing with kids when he taught environmental education for three years in California. He moved to Wisconsin to teach part time and learn animal husbandry, carpentry and masonry skills. After a few years of working with his hands, he began to miss working with kids. Music was his vehicle back to them. He has been performing full time since 1982, presenting more than 200 programs a year. He resides in rural Amherst, Wisconsin with his wife, Louise, and their two sons.
