Ford School Update

Ford School Update. Winter is coming and we still need to get the school house painted.

While we were hoping to have the school painted the weather has not been the best for painting the exterior of Ford School, with it either raining (can't paint in the rain) or with it being too windy (don't want to paint the neighbors houses since we are using an air sprayer) we are still hopeful that it will get done before the snow starts to fall this winter.

Just because we have not been able to get the school painted does not mean that things are at a standstill. Work is still being done to fix the windows and to make new corner posts for the building.

All of this takes money which leads me to my next topic; raising some money for the Ford School Project.  We have two fundraisers happening this weekend.

The Lake In The Hills Historical Society is hosting a garage/rummage sale Friday Oct. 26 and Sat. Oct. 27 at the POA Building in Lake In The Hills. The POA Building is located at 1212 Crystal Lake Rd, Lake In The Hills. The hours of the sale are 9-5 both days. What is special about this sale is that all items have been donated by various Antique Shops and friends of the Society. Many of the items for sale are vintage items, such as a Victrola with record cabinet, an older slot machine, vintage comic books just to name a few. You can view some of the items by visiting our FB page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lake-in-the-Hills-Historical-Society/251976951499734?fref=ts#!/events/157727837702207/ or you can check them on Craig’s List at http://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/gms/3361156145.html.

We hope that you will come out and visit our sale and help to generate needed funds to restore Ford School.
