MCC to Offer Advanced Manufacturing Training Programs; Information Sessions Set May 21 & 22

McHenry County College is offering a new job training opportunities in advanced manufacturing. Programs are ideal for the unemployed, underemployed or military veterans.

Those who are unemployed, underemployed, or any military veteran who seeks new career options may consider McHenry County College (MCC) for exciting new job training opportunities beginning this fall in advanced manufacturing, including the areas of robotics, mechatronics, computer numerical controls (CNC) and industrial maintenance.

Through a grant from the Department of Labor, McHenry County College is upgrading equipment and revamping courses to offer McHenry County residents the best opportunities to find work in advanced manufacturing. Programs that are
currently available are in welding, CNC and robotics.

Paid internships and on-the-job training are also available at area manufacturing
companies for qualified students who receive a certificate or a degree in these
programs.

“Employers in McHenry County are looking for skilled technicians for positions that pay $20 per hour for someone new to the field and up to $40 and higher for those
with additional training and experience,” said Kathleen Callahan, coordinator
of the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) grant.

Callahan will present two separate information sessions at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21 and at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 at the McHenry County Workforce Center, 500 Russel Court in Woodstock.  She will discuss the features, benefits,
financial aid and employment outlook for welding, CNC and robotics programs.

The information sessions are free and open to the public. Those interested in
attending an information session may reserve a seat by calling the Workforce
