New Research on Cancer-Conference in Chicago-ASCO2012.

There is a big conference going on in Chicago on Cancer.Many companies are presenting results or progress report of their trials.Billion$ of dollars are being spent to seek medicines that may prolong life by a few years for Leukemia,lung cancer,Breast Cancer,Colon Cancer.These medicine,even if successful will cost in excess of 20,000$/year for treatment.

             However,we are not spending enough on preventing these cancers in the first place.Breast Cancer awareness groups have done a great job-in getting 80-90% of people to get screening.However Colon Cancer screening remains at 50%.Thus 50% are not getting screened--resulting in 50,000 deaths per year.In Illinois alone--5-14 people die every day from Colon Cancer.

           Recently Robin Gibb ,winner of 6 Grammy Awards died of Colon Cancer at 62.His songs ,Stayin Alive,Saturday night fever still live on.His cancer was preventable,if he had gone for screening at 50-recommended guidelines.

           Many think-Hey-I am healthy,no problem with my digestive system.Why bother?

           Well let me tell you--25% of people have POLYP in Colon--above the age of 50.These are the source of Cancer.

            If these polyps are removed thru routine Colon Cancer screening,then the risk of Colon Cancer reduces to nearly zero.
