Convicted Sex Offender Flees Before Trial, Sentenced To Prison

The 38-year-old Carpentersville man is still on the lam and his trial and sentencing was held despite his absence.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Authorities are searching for a 38-year-old Carpentersville man who was recently sentenced to 45 years in prison for sexually abusing a child.

A jury found Constantino Vasquez-Juan guilty of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and 15 counts of grooming. Prosecutors say Vasquez-Juan sexually abused a child between April 2019 and September 2019 and coerced the victim to take sexually explicit photographs of herself and give the photos to him.

Vasquez-Juan posted his $7,500 bond on Nov. 17, 2020, and was released from custody. He last appeared in court on March 3, 2021, but did not show up for his pre-trial hearing on Oct. 29, 2021.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest and his trial and sentencing took place even though he did not show up to any of the hearings, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
