Coroner Identifies Man Killed In House Fire
Randall Allen Hanson, 63, of Harvard died from thermal and inhalation injuries from the blaze on April 19.

HARVARD, IL – The McHenry County Coroner has identified a 63-year-old man killed in a house fire in Harvard as Randall Allen Hanson. Authorities were called to the scene of the house fire in the 400 block of East Blackman Street in Harvard at about 3:15 a.m. on April 19, the Northwest Herald reports. Hanson was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:01 a.m., according to the coroner's office.
The blaze was reported in the basement of the home and a 14-year-old girl, 10-year-old boy and 55-year-old woman were able to escape the fire, police told the Northwest Herald.
Preliminary autopsy results on Hanson revealed he died from thermal and inhalation injuries from the fire.

His death and the blaze remain under investigation. The Northwest Herald reports the fire appeared to have been an accident caused by "careless smoking."
