Driver In I-90 Crash That Killed Boy, 3, Charged

Police said the Indiana man was illegally using his cell phone moments before the crash.

KANE COUNTY, IL – Charges have been filed against an Indiana man accused of illegally using his cellphone moments before colliding into a stalled vehicle on Interstate 90 last March, the Daily Herald reports. A 3-year-old Rockford boy inside the 2009 Ford F-150 stopped in traffic was killed in the collision along Interstate 90 near Huntley. The Illinois State Police announced this past week they had taken Matthew Munz, 49, of Zionsville, Indiana, into custody in connection with the March 23, 2017 crash, according to the article.

Munz has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated unlawful use of a communication device and is free on a $10,000 bond, according to the Daily Herald.
