Former LITH Deputy Chief's $84K Pension Reviewed
Should Alan Bokowski continue to receive his $84,000 per year pension following a sex assault conviction?

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL – An attorney for the village of Lake in the Hills Police Prnsion Board has been asked to review the $84,000 per year pension of a former deputy police chief in the village who retired in 2006 and was recently convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl, according to media reports. Alan Bokowski was sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison in February after pleading guilty to criminal sexual assault of a child between the age of 13 and 17. Now, the pension board is looking into whether they should do anything about Bokowski's pension, which is $84,000 per year or about $7,000 per month, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The village of Lake in the Hills police pension board was supposed to meet on Tuesday and Bokowski's pension was listed as an item on the agenda.
But the five-member board did not have a quorum since one of the members was out because of a family death and another was called in to a police investigation, according to the Northwest Herald. The meeting will be rescheduled.

In the mean time, Attorney Richard Reimer will review the pension and determine if Bokowski's conviction should be revoked, according to the Northwest Herald.
“This is all new to us, and we’ll see what the attorney comes back with," board vice president Stan Hegerson said.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the face the crimes were committed years after Bokowski retired from his 26 years with the Lake in the Hills Police Department could potentially weigh in his favor. Officials said Bokowksi was never accused of any wrongdoing while he was with the village.
