Lake In The Hills Man Dies After Struck By Car

The man who was hit at the intersection of W. Algonquin Road and Crystal Lake Road has succumbed to his injuries, Algonquin police said.

ALGONQUIN, IL — A 53-year-old Lake in the Hills resident has died after being struck by a vehicle in the intersection of W. Algonquin Road and Crystal Lake Road on Oct.31, police said. The man was crossing at Algonquin Road around 6:12 p.m., when he was hit by a westbound vehicle, according to police.

The man was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital in critical condition, police said. He was later transported to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.

The man was identified as 53-year-old David Popovich of Lake in the Hills, according to Algonquin police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The driver of the vehicle, a 50-year-old woman from Algonquin, was not injured and showed no signs of impairment, according to police.

No charges were laid in the investigation, police said.
