Man Dies In Crystal Lake House Fire
The fire destroyed a home on Sussex Lane, fire officials said.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A man died Monday after a fire in a home in Crystal Lake, fire officials said. The fire left the home uninhabitable, according to the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department.
A Crystal Lake police officer who passed by the house in the 600 block of Sussex Lane called the fire department after witnessing the blaze, and firefighters responded around 4 p.m., officials said.
Upon their arrival, fire crews saw police taking a victim from the front door, fire officials said. He was taken to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A dog was also found in the home and taken to an animal hospital.
Two other people were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, officials said.

Damage to the home was estimated at about $80,000, according to a Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department press release.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Crews from McHenry Township and Cary assisted at the Crystal Lake station while local firefighters battled the blaze.
