Coroner IDs Local Man Hit By Car, Killed While Lying In Road

The 20-year-old man was lying in the roadway prior to the crash in unincorporated Algonquin Township.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – The 20-year-old Crystal Lake man who was hit by a car and killed Friday night in unincorporated Algonquin Township has been identified as Jacob Rokusek, according to the McHenry County Coroner's Office. Rokusek, who was apparently lying in the roadway prior to being hit, died of blunt trauma to the head and chest, authorities said. A preliminary investigation into the incident revealed a 34-year-old Crystal Lake woman was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt west on the 1300 block of East Main Street at about 8:15 p.m. when she went over a hill and hit Rokusek.

Rokusek was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department Accident Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
