Man Who Fled Police, Scaled Fence Along I-90 Arrested: Cops

The driver was pulled over on Interstate 90 near Huntley Friday afternoon. When police attempted to take him into custody, he bolted.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A 29-year-old man faces several felony charges after he was pulled over on Interstate 90 and fled officers, scaling a fence along Interstate 90 before later being taken into custody, police said.

Marcus P. Coleman, 29, of Hopkins, Minnesota, is now charged with armed violence, possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of a defaced firearm and possession or display any fictitious or unlawfully altered ID cards in connection with the Friday afternoon incident.

Police say they pulled Coleman's vehicle over on westbound I-90 near Henning Road in unincorporated Huntley for a traffic violation at about 12:40 p.m. Friday. The driver gave the detective a Minnesota driver's license, and also admitted to having marijuana and a loaded firearm

The detective was about to place the driver in handcuffs when he bolted, running north toward the village of Huntley and the Del Webb Community. He scaled a fence along I-90.

Several officers and deputies from the Kane County Sheriff's Office, Huntley Police Department, Hampshire Police Department, Illinois State Police and the Department of Homeland Security. Huntley police sent a community alert through its notification system, advising them to call 911 if they see any suspicious person matching the description of the driver who'd fled.

Police received calls from residents living in the 11000 block of Nelson Drive in the Del Webb Community who said they spotted the driver. Police responded, tracked down Coleman and took him into custody.
