People In Need Forum Returns Jan. 29

McHenry County Government will be one of many local agencies attending the 21st annual McHenry County People in Need Forum. The free event, which will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 29, is a unique opportunity for the public to learn about the many resources and services that are available to those needing help.

The forum, sponsored by McHenry County College and a diverse array of co-sponsors, showcases important community resources and workshops on issues such as immigration, senior care, caregiver resources, food insecurity, mental health, employment and many more.
Organizers are holding the event virtually in the wake of increased COVID-19 cases. Visit www.mchenry.edu/pin to learn more and to pre-register. Once registered, attendees will receive a confirmation email with the link to join the event. Participants can drop into and out of the virtual forum as they wish. All exhibitors will be online from 8:30 a.m. to noon to chat and answer messages, and a community board will be available to ask questions and interact with other attendees.

Besides helping people seeking assistance, the forum is an excellent resource and networking opportunity for social service agencies, faith-based organizations, civic groups, law enforcement, elected officials and others, said Jessica Rizza, development coordinator for the Friends of MCC Foundation.
“Whether it’s lack of housing, social isolation, or the mental health toll the pandemic has taken on all of us, many McHenry County residents are in need right now. The People in Need Forum is a place for individuals to connect with the many helpful resources our community offers,” Rizza said.
