The local police department increased its enforcement efforts over the Super Bowl weekend.

From LITH: The Super Bowl weekend Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket enforcement effort ran from Friday, Feb. 1, through the early morning hours of Monday, Feb. 4, to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure seat belt compliance.

During this time, fifteen (15) hours of extra patrol enforcement were conducted by the Lake in the Hills Police Department through a grant obtained from the Illinois Department of Transportation’s Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) program. Officers stopped fourteen (14) vehicles for violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code (IVC). Among these violations, four (4) citations were issued for distracted driving, two (2) drivers were cited for speeding violations, four (4) drivers were cited for improper lane usage, one (1) uninsured motorist was cited, and one (1) driver was cited for ignoring a traffic signal. We are pleased to report that proper seatbelt safety and sober drivers were observed by the Traffic Unit detail.

This mobilization was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois
Department of Transportation. For more information about NHTSA’s Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, please visit:
