Roadside Safety Check Scheduled For McHenry Co.
The Illinois State Police and Algonquin Police Department will be teaming up to conduct the roadside safety checks.

ALGONQUIN, IL – The Illinois State Police will conduct a roadside safety check over the upcoming weekend in McHenry County. State police officers will be teaming up with the Algonquin Police Department as part of the roadside safety check. Authorities will be on the lookout for drivers who are driving under the influence, speeding, safety belt and child restraint violations and other Illinois vehicle code and criminal violations.
The use of Roadside Safety Checks combine a sense of public awareness and enforcement in order to save lives, according to a Illinois State Police news release.
Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois, and throughout the U.S., nearly 10,000 people die each year due to alcohol-impaired driving. RSCs are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road, authorities said.
