Celebrate community, diversity, and the new year on Martin Luther King Jr. Day! On Monday, January 17, take part in fun for all ages across the Village at our three winter kick-off events. We’ll get outside, try new sports, and read together as we enjoy the day off of school.
We’ll experience the magic and wonder of winter’s first snowfall as we read Ezra Jack Keats' Caldecott Medal-winning picture book, The Snowy Day, and enjoy activities that go along with the book. Join us at Sunset Park, 5200 Miller Road, at 10:00 a.m. for our first “Come Read With Us” event of the year. Walk through this beloved classic that was the first storybook to feature an African American protagonist. This event is FREE for LITH residents or $2 for non-residents. Sharpen your skills and help us fight hunger in our community at the Lake in the Hills Ice Bowl® Disc Golf Tournament at Linda K. Fischer Park. No wimps, no whiners! This worldwide, all-weather event is held during the winter months with an overall mission of collecting donations to fight hunger no matter the weather conditions. Tee times start at 9:30 a.m. The park is located at 5962 Grafton Farm Drive. Bring donations to support three area food pantries. We’ll wrap up with a fire pit party at Sunset Park! Next, join us for Frozen Footgolf at Sunset Park! A unique combination of golf and soccer, players kick a soccer ball into an oversized hole with as few kicks as possible.
