Car Occupants Shoot Paintballs At Home: Arlington Heights PD Blotter

The homeowner said the car drove by her house, shot paintballs and damaged a window screen.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

ARRESTS

Darion M. Jones, 25, is accused of leaving the scene of an accident, and was arrested at 12:01 p.m. Oct. 24, at Mitchell Avenue and White Oak Street. He was released and assigned a court date of Nov. 8.

Rachel L. Liggins, 32, is accused of deceptive practices (bad checks), and was arrested at 10:35 a.m. Oct. 24, at Currency Exchange, 1764 W. Algonquin Road. She was released and assigned a court date of Oct. 27.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

  • Katherine Pierce Shudy, 38, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, and was arrested at 10:05 p.m. Oct. 23, in the 1300 block of Central Road. She was released and assigned a court date of Nov. 28.
  • Gloria A. Smith, 26, is accused of DUI alcohol, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, possession of drug paraphernalia, and was arrested at 1:22 a.m. Oct. 27, in the 1800 block of Algonquin Road. She was released and assigned a court date of Dec. 15.

WARRANT

William A. Woodard, 53, had an in-state warrant, and was arrested at 9:12 p.m. Oct. 20, at Dick's Sporting Goods, 401 E. Palatine Road.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • An employee at Nickol Knoll Park, 3400 N. Kennicott Ave., reported that during the overnight hours of Oct. 16, someone drove a vehicle on the baseball field, damaging the grass.
  • A resident in the 1200 block of N. Mitchell Avenue called police at 4:14 a.m. Oct. 21, to report an unknown vehicle drove past her residence and a passenger shot paintballs at her house. The paintballs damaged a window screen. The cost to repair the window screen was unknown.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

  • A resident in the 200 block of W. Emerson Street called police to report that during the overnight hours of Oct. 17, someone stole the rear license plate off his 2023 Volkswagen.
  • A resident in the 1100 block of S. New Wilke Road, reported that during the overnight hours of Oct. 20, someone stole all four tires from her 2022 Toyota. The cost to replace all the tires was estimated at $2,500.

THEFT

A citizen reported at 11 p.m. Oct. 16, someone had stolen his bicycle, valued at $650, at the downtown train station, 45 W. Northwest Highway. The bicycle was described as a Haro Pistol, 16 speed, with red decals.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee at Dick's Sporting Goods, 401 E. Palatine Road, reported at 6:18 p.m. Oct. 18, a male and female stole approximately $500 worth of Nike apparel. The female was wearing a red stocking cap, red jacket, blue jeans, red boots, with a large black purse. The male was wearing a red jacket with a hood, red pants and black shoes.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 1200 block of S. Chestnut Avenue reported that during the overnight hours of Oct. 19, someone entered his 2015 white Ford and stole approximately $4,650 worth of tools.
  • A citizen reported that between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Oct. 19, someone entered her 2016 Chrysler and stole her wallet in the 900 block of Shady Way.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 1300 block of S. Mitchell Avenue called police to report that during the overnight hours of Oct. 19, someone shattered the front passenger window on his 2015 Ford Transit work van. The cost to replace the window was unknown.
  • An employee at JRC Design Build, 1275 E. Davis St., reported that between Oct. 19 and Oct. 20, someone shattered the front passenger window on his 2022 Ford Transit work van. The cost to replace the window was estimated at $500.
