Elk Grove Death Ruled Homicide: Police

Police are investigating the stabbing death of a 45-year-old Des Plaines man.

ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL — The death of a 45-year-old man, whose body was discovered Tuesday morning in the 1400 block of Greenleaf Avenue, has been ruled a homicide, according to police. The Des Plaines resident was found deceased in a ditch behind a business in that area, the Elk Grove Police Department tells Patch. The man suffered multiple stab wounds, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The discovery was made at around 8:06 a.m. Tuesday in a grassy area adjacent to railroad tracks. Police requested the assistance of the northwest suburban Major Case Assistance Team. MCAT investigators and forensic technicians assisted the agency in investigating the homicide.

The victim’s identity is not being released at this time, pending positive identification and family notification.
