Fireworks Damage Porta-Potties At Parks: Arlington Heights PD Blotter

A playground and garbage can were also damaged in separate incidents at Raven and Greenbriar parks, according to police.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

ARRESTS

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Danny Benitez, 26, is accused of two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and was arrested at 2:20 July 8 at Comfort Inn, 2120 S. Arlington Heights Road. Bond was set at $5,000 and a court date of Aug. 2 was assigned.

CRIMINAL SEXUAL ABUSE

Raul Duenas, 18, is accused of criminal sexual abuse, and was arrested at 10 a.m. July 13, at Academy at Forest View, 2121 S. Goebbert Road. A court date of Aug. 28 was assigned.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Vinny George, 50, is accused of criminal damage to property, and was arrested at 8:47 p.m. July 8, at Motel 6, 441 W. Algonquin Road. A court date of July 26 was assigned.

FORGERY

Chrishawn M. Johnson, 49, is accused of forgery, deceptive practice (bad checks), and was arrested at 9:41 p.m. July 13, at Dick's Sporting Goods, 401 E. Palatine Road. A court date of July 31 was assigned.

DOMESTIC BATTERY

Alla Mourans, 68, is accused of domestic battery, and was arrested at 12:20 a.m. July 9, at Wingate Inn, 2112 S. Arlington Heights Road. Bond was set at $10,000 and a court date of Aug. 1 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

VANDALISM

A Village employee reported at 6 p.m. June 26, finding graffiti inside the south elevator, directly outside the south elevator, on an overhead sign as well as the pillar outside the south elevator at an underground parking garage at 35 S. Evergreen Ave. Additional graffiti was located on a yellow box next to the south exit ramp.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

  • A complainant called police at 2:10 a.m. June 27, to report someone stole the catalytic converter off her Mitsubishi SUV while it was parked at the Courtyard by Marriott, 100 W. Algonquin Road. The cost to replace the catalytic converter was unknown at the time of the report.
  • A resident in the 1200 block of S. Old Wilke Road reported that during the overnight hours of June 29, someone stole the catalytic converter off her 2001 Mazda. The cost to replace the catalytic converter was unknown at the time of the report.
  • A resident in the 800 block of N. Kennicott Avenue called police to report that between July 3 and July 4, someone stole the front license plate of his 2012 Jeep while it was parked in his driveway.
  • A resident in the 1100 block of N. Dale Avenue reported that between July 6 and July 8, someone stole the catalytic converter off his 2011 Hyundai. The cost to replace the catalytic converter was unknown.

THEFT

A victim reported that between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. June 27, someone had entered a locker that had secured his personal belongings in at LA Fitness, 345 E. Palatine Road. Upon returning, he noticed the lock was missing and the cash in his wallet was also missing.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident in the 200 block of W. Tanglewood Drive reported that between 12:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. June 28, upon returning home, she found the rear entry door was forcibly opened and there was significant damage to the door and frame. It does not appear anything was taken at this time. An associated vehicle may be a small black SUV.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 700 block of W. Rand Road called police to report that during the overnight hours of June 28, someone scratched the driver's side door of her 2019 Ford. The cost to repair the scratch was unknown at the time of the report.
  • A complainant reported that between July 1 and July 4, someone keyed and spray-painted his 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van while it was parked in the rear parking lot at XSport Fitness, 960 W. Dundee Road. The cost to repair the damage was unknown.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

  • A complainant reported that they had parked their 2015 Acura between 5:30 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. June 29 on the west side of the KinderCare building, 1003 S. Arlington Heights Road, and went inside. Upon returning to her vehicle, she discovered her purse was missing. The purse was valued at approximately $300.
  • A resident in the 400 block of W. Rand Road reported that between June 29 and June 30, someone entered his unlocked 2017 Honda and stole cash and a handgun.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • A complainant reported that during the overnight hours of July 5, someone had damaged a portable toilet and metal garbage can with fireworks at Raven Park, 395 W. Burr Oak Drive. The cost to replace both items was unknown at the time of the report.
  • A complainant called police to report that during the overnight hours of July 5, someone damaged the playground and portable toilet with fireworks at Greenbriar Park, 1490 W. Roanoke Drive. The cost to repair the playground was estimated at $1,000.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee reported at 8 p.m. July 7, someone stole men's clothing and shoes, valued at around $777, at Kohl's, 800 W. Dundee Road. The subject left in an unknown gray vehicle. The subject was described as a white male, with a beard, tattoos on both arms, wearing a green baseball hat, white t-shirt, black adidas shorts and white gym shoes.

STOLEN AUTO

A complainant reported that between 12:20 a.m. and 1:20 a.m. July 9, someone stole her maroon 2021 Hyundai from the driveway.
