Identity Of Woman Killed After Driving Into Home Released: Palatine PD

An 85-year-old Palatine resident died Monday after her car struck the concrete front steps of a home, utility pole and other fixed objects.

PALATINE, IL — The identity of a driver killed Monday afternoon after she struck another car, a utility post and the concrete front steps of a home has been released. Rina Casiello, 85, of Palatine, was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-car crash near S. Quentin Road.

According to police, Casiello was driving her white Lexus ES350 northbound on S. Quentin Road when her vehicle struck another northbound vehicle, crossed through the southbound lanes of S. Quentin Road, entered the parkway, and struck multiple fixed objects, including a utility post and the concrete front steps of a residence.

The home the vehicle struck was damaged and remained inhabitable as of Monday night.

Traffic on S. Quentin Road was closed in both directions between W. Kenilworth Avenue and W. Glencoe Road during the crash investigation. The Major Care Assistance Team's Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction unit is assisting Palatine police with the investigation.
