Industrial Glue Causes $20K In Damage: Arlington Heights PD Blotter

Police said two five-gallon buckets were dumped on a patio at the business and 15 windows were broken, causing another $15,000 in damage.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Regina Marie Blackshear, 51, is accused of theft (over $500), retail theft, and was arrested at 8:16 p.m. Sept. 9, at Dick's Sporting Goods, 445 E. Palatine Road. Bond was set at $5,000 and a court date of Oct. 26 was assigned.

  • Daisy Juarez, 25, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, illegal transportation of liquor by a driver, and was arrested at 1:52 a.m. Sept. 9, in the 2200 block of S. Arlington Heights Road. Bond was set at $1,000 and a court date of Sept. 29 was assigned.
  • Carlos R. Schultz, 27, is accused of DUI alcohol, DUI with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, operation of a vehicle with a revoked registration, and was arrested at 1:16 Sept. 9, at E. Maude Avenue and Pine Street. Bond was set at $1,000 and a court date of Oct. 16 was assigned.

VIOLATION OF BAIL BOND

  • Pedro Merida-Olmedo, 35, had an in-state warrant for violation of bail bond, and was arrested at 11:04 p.m. Sept. 12, at Sunset Meadows Park, 700 S. Dwyer Ave. Bond was set at $10,000.
  • Gregory J. Miklitsch, 34, had an in-state warrant for violation of bail bond, and was arrested at 9:28 p.m. Sept. 11, in the 1600 block of S. Arlington Heights Road. Bond was set at $250,000.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • An employee of a business in the 0-10 block of N. Hickory Avenue reported that between 4 p.m. Aug. 26, and 7 a.m. Aug. 28, someone dumped two five gallon buckets of Industrial Primer Glue onto the second floor patio area. The damage was estimated at $20,000. Additionally, there were 15 broken windows valued at $15,000.
  • An employee at a business in the 40 block of S. Vail Avenue called police at 2:54 p.m. Sept. 1, to report the security camera captured a subject punch the call box keypad and an adjacent television screen, causing approximately $300 in damage. The subject was described as a white male, 60-70 years of age, 6-foot, 185 pounds, gray hair, with a full beard, light gray t-shirt, khaki colored cargo shorts and dark-colored shoes. The subject left in a tan or gold four-door sedan.
  • A resident in the 900 block of E. Frederick Street called police at 8:15 p.m. Sept. 4, to report a group of juveniles damaged the exterior screen door to the residence. The cost to repair the screen door was approximately $500.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

A citizen called police at noon Aug. 29, to report someone entered her unlocked car and stole her backpack in the 0-20 block of N. Hickory Avenue.

THEFT

A resident in the 600 block of W. Rand Road reported at 10 a.m Aug. 29, someone stole a package from the building lobby. The value of the package was $126.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 1600 block of W. Portsmith Lane reported that between 4:45 p.m. Aug. 29, and 9:45 a.m. Aug. 30, someone entered her locked Kia and stole her purse.
  • A citizen reported that between 9:10 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Aug. 30, they had parked their black Ford in the parking lot at Dollar Tree, 89 W. Golf Road, and went inside to shop. Upon returning to her vehicle, she noticed the front driver's side window was smashed and her purse was missing. The value of items in her purse was estimated at $850.

VANDALISM

  • An employee of Nichol Knoll Clubhouse, 3800 N. Kennicott Ave., reported that during the overnight hours of Aug. 30, someone put gang graffiti on the electrical box near the circle drive.
  • Residents in the 2600 block of N. Haddow Avenue and 900 block of W. Hintz Road reported that between 9:45 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sept. 3, an unknown group of juveniles “egged” their houses. The subjects arrived in a white SUV.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee at Jewel, 122 N. Vail Ave, reported at 7:25 p.m. Sept. 1, three men filled large bags with an unknown amount of alcohol and left without paying. The subjects were wearing black bandanas and black sunglasses. They left northbound on Vail Avenue in a silver hatchback.
  • An employee at Ulta Beauty, 13 W. Rand Road, reported at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 31, three women stole $4,700 worth of merchandise. All three were in their late 20s or early 30s with medium build. One subject was wearing a white Nike sweatshirt, one was wearing a black Jordan sweatshirt, and one was wearing a long sleeve shirt and tan pants.
  • An employee at Jewel, 122 N. Vail Avenue, called police at 12:50 p.m. Sept. 8, to report someone stole approximately $1,000 worth of over the counter medication. The subject was described as a male, approximately 25 to 30 years old, with black hair in a ponytail and wearing a blue jean jacket.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

  • A citizen reported that while their car was parked at Northpoint Shopping Center, 304 E. Rand Road, between 12:45 p.m. and 1:25 p.m. Sept. 2, someone broke the front driver's side window on her white Dodge minivan and rummaged through the glove box. The cost to replace the window was unknown at the time of the report.
  • A citizen reported at 1:15 a.m. Sept. 10, his 2011 Volkswagen was kicked, causing dents, and was covered with ketchup and mustard in the 1000 block of N. Walnut Avenue. The cost to repair the damage was unknown at the time of the report.

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

  • A citizen reported that during the overnight hours of Sept. 4, someone stole the catalytic converter off his 2005 Honda while it was parked at the Courtyard By Marriott, 100 W. Algonquin Road. The cost to replace the catalytic converter was unknown at the time of the report.
  • A resident in the 2600 block of N. Windsor Drive reported that during the overnight hours of Sept. 7, someone stole the catalytic converter off her 2012 Hyundai. The cost to replace the catalytic converter was unknown at the time of the report.

BURGLARY

An employee at Geek Toy Hut, 870 S. Arthur Avenue, reported that during the overnight hours of Sept. 6, someone forced entry in to the business and stole over $50,000 worth of items.
