Jockey, Horse Injured After Crash at Arlington Racecourse

Christopher A. Emigh suffered a head injury Saturday when his horse hit the rails during the 2nd race.

Arlington Heights, IL—A jockey and horse were injured during Saturday's Million Preview Day at Arlington International Racecourse, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Jockey Christopher A. Emigh suffered a head injury when his horse, Fitz's Storm, hit the rails during the second race, the Tribune reports. Emigh, 45, went face-first onto the track, and he lay immobile for a few minutes before bending his legs and waving to the crowd, the report added.

Emigh was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, the report stated. He was conscious and responsive before he was taken away, the report added.

The horse, which had to be chased and restrained after the accident, was taken away in an equine ambulance, according to the Tribune.
