Jury Indicts Man In Connection With Schaumburg Bank Robberies: Feds
The Franklin Park man was also indicted for armed bank robberies in Elmhurst, Niles and Park Ridge.
CHICAGO — A federal grand jury returned an indictment charge last week, charging a Franklin Park man for multiple bank robberies, including two in Schaumburg. An indictment alleges German Campos, Jr., 24, brandished a handgun in five of the six robberies.
Campos Jr. was charged with six counts of bank robbery, each punishable by up to 20 years in federal prison; and five counts of brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, each of which would impose a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years.
The indictment identifies the six bank robberies as follows:

- Oct. 18, 2023: U.S. Bank in Schaumburg
- Dec. 16, 2023: U.S. Bank in Elmhurst
- March 6, 2024: U.S. Bank in Schaumburg
- June 13, 2024: U.S. Bank in Elmhurst
- Aug. 9, 2024: BMO Bank in Park Ridge
- Aug. 28, 2024: U.S. Bank in Niles
In the March 2024 robbery in Schaumburg, Campos Jr. reportedly made a verbal demand for funds with a black handgun. He was last seen running southbound from the bank, armed with the handgun. Citizens in the immediate area were asked to shelter in place for their safety following the incident. Motorists were also asked to avoid the area.

Campos Jr. is currently detained in law enforcement custody. Arraignment is set for Oct. 24.
