Men Ask For Donation, Steal $25K From Amazon Fresh Shopper: Arlington Heights PD Blotter

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

ARRESTS

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF CANNABIS

Andrew Begich, 18, of the 700 block of N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, is accused of unlawful possession of cannabis, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 2:30 a.m. May 31, in the 1400 block of N. Douglas Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of June 26.

CRIMINAL NEGLECT OF A LONG-TERM CARE RESIDENT

Ian W. Brandstatter, 40, of the 700 block of N. Hickory Avenue, Arlington Heights, is accused of criminal neglect of a long-term care facility resident by a caregiver, and was arrested at 2:53 p.m. June 2, in the 700 block of N. Hickory Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of July 11.

VIOLATING AN ORDER OF PROTECTION

Marcin L. Domaniewski, 48, of the 1100 block of W. Nichols, Drive, Arlington Heights, is accused of violating an order of protection, and was arrested on both May 30 and June 5. A court date of June 9 was assigned.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

Sheila M. Takeda, 63, of the 600 block of E. Rand Road, Arlington Heights, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol by a driver, and was arrested at 2:42 p.m. May 30, in the 600 block of E. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. She was released and assigned a court date of June 17.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Jayden D. Williams, 22, of the 500 block of N. Pine Avenue, Chicago, is accused of possession of a controlled substance, operating a motor vehicle with no license, no valid registration, and was arrested at 4:32 p.m. May 31, in the 0-10 block of E. Golf Road, Arlington Heights. He was released and assigned a court date of July 7.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

A citizen reported that at 3:50 p.m. May 26, two men asked her for a donation, to which she agreed and used her credit card to do so, at Amazon Fresh, 325 E. Palatine Road. One of the men asked for the citizen's phone and subsequently charged $25,000 to the victim's credit card. The two are described as:

  • black, 30 to 40 years old, heavyset, 6-foot-1, with dreadlocks, wearing all black clothing
  • black, 30 to 40 years old, 5-foot-11, short black hair, wearing all black clothing

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

An employee at Patriot's Park, 1815 N. Dale Avenue, reported that between May 27 and May 28, someone had knocked over the port-o-potty, causing damage to it.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

A citizen reported that during the overnight hours of May 29, someone had entered his unlocked blue Chevrolet and blue Jeep, which were parked on the ramp between the first and second floor in the 100 block of E. Eastman Street, and stole personal property

VANDALISM

A resident in the 300 block of W. Berkley Drive reported at 11:13 p.m. May 30, someone had egged her residence.

BURGLARY

An employee at Elm's Liquors, 906 W. Northwest Highway, reported at 2:01 a.m. June 1, a man and a woman had broken the glass on the front door, entered the business and stole lottery tickets. The two arrived and left in a black Hyundai with Texas registration. They were described as:

  • Hispanic male, 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-8, medium build, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, black face mask and black gloves.
  • Hispanic female, 20 to 30 years old, medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a black face mask.

ARSON

An employee at Hasbrook Park, 333 W. Maude Avenue, reported at 3:05 a.m. June 1, someone had lit the port-o-potty on fire, which caused it to completely melt.
