ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The village of Arlington Heights is planning to move forward with construction of a path that will connect the north side of Lake-Cook Road near Wilke Road with the trail system at the Buffalo Creek Forest Preserve, according to the Daily Herald. The path has been requested for years and without an official one in place, forest preserve users created an "unofficial one" so they could make the trek.

The village recently received a Cook County grant for up to $75,000 to help cover the costs of the project, which will include an 8-foot-wide gravel path from Lake-Cook to the current trail at Buffalo Creek, according to the article. Cook County and the Lake County Forest Preserve District will review the plans and construction is expected to start next spring.
