'Scruffy Beard' Man Eyes Young Girls: Arlington Heights PD Blotter

A witness saw the man on two different occasions circling a block in his car and staring at young girls, according to police.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. ARRESTS

RESISTING A PEACE OFFICER

Alejandro Ambriz, 40, is accused of resisting a peace officer, and was arrested at 9:35 p.m. May 12, at a Mobil station, 1712 W. Algonquin Road. Bond was set at $1,000 and a court date of June 22 was assigned.

Carlos O. Barreira, 35, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving 15-20 mph over the speed limit, resisting a peace officer, and was arrested at 3:35 a.m. May 14, at W. Rand Road and N. Chestnut Avenue. Bond was set at $1,000 and a court date of June 2 was assigned.

FLEEING/ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE A PEACE OFFICER

Laura R. Baumann, 29, is accused of fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, and was arrested at 1:33 a.m. May 17, in the 600 block of E. Golf Road. Bond was set at $5,000 and a court of May 18 was assigned.

OPERATION OF VEHICLE WITH SUSPENDED REGISTRATION

Michael Christopher Costello, 45, is accused of operation of a vehicle with a suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 4:05 p.m. May 15, at Arlington Heights and Algonquin roads. Bond was set at $2,500 and a court date of June 8 was assigned.

DOMESTIC BATTERY

Mike P. Manos, 54, is accused of domestic battery, and was arrested at 10:40 p.m. May 18, in the 1500 block of Chesterfield Road. Bond was set at $10,000 and a court date of June 9 was assigned.

FORGERY

Juan Carlos Zuniga Serrano, 30, is accused of forgery, and was arrested at 9:20 p.m. May 16, at Currency Exchange, 118 E. Wing Road. Bond was set at $30,000 and a court date of June 30 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE

  • A citizen reported that between 9:10 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. May 8, someone broke the front passenger window of her white Lincoln and stole a purse at La Fitness, 345 E. Palatine Road.
  • A citizen called police to report that between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. May 10, someone entered her unlocked Volo and stole her backpack, which contained her laptop, at Buddy Foundation, 65 W. Seegers Road.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

A citizen called police to report that between 2:35 p.m. and 3 p.m. on May 5 and May 8, a man with a "scruffy beard" was driving a white SUV, circling the block and appeared to be staring at young girls at Douglas Avenue and Marion Street.

BURGLARY

A citizen reported that between April 18 and May 8, someone had forcibly entered a bike storage room and stole at least two bicycles in the 200 block of N. Arlington Heights Road. The bikes were a blue men's Trek Verve 3 mountain bike with neon green writing, valued at $999.99; and a blue women's Trek Verve mountain kike with neon green writing, valued at $999.99.

THEFT

A citizen reported at 8 p.m. May 9, that someone stole his black Samsung Galaxy Note 9 bike, valued at $999, at X-Sport Fitness, 960 W. Dundee Road.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • A resident in the 3900 block of N. Wilke Road reported that between May 9 and May 11, someone took down his American flag and a yellow flag from the flag pole and burned them.
  • A resident in the 2000 block of N. Brighton Place called police at 9:30 p.m. May 13, to report hearing two loud noises outside. A check of the front door revealed damage to the wood trim and a footwear impression mark on the door.
