Traveling Korean War Memorial Coming To Des Plaines
The monuments that honor veterans who sacrificed their lives during the Korean War will be on display for three days at Lake Park.

DES PLAINES, IL — A traveling memorial honoring those who sacrificed their lives while serving the United States military during the Korean War will be made available to area residents when the monument is on display for three days later this month in Des Plaines.
Statues honoring veterans of the Korean War will be available for viewing 24 hours a day between June 23-25 in Lake Park, which is located at 2200 Lee St. in Des Plaines. The memorial will be available for viewing beginning at 3 p.m. on June 23 before the main program honoring veterans will take place at 1 p.m. on June 24, organizers said.
The program will include performances by the Chicago Korean Dance Company, the Chicago Korean American Choir as well as presentations from the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago, the Pungmul School, and comments by the Consul General of South Korea, Jung Han Kim.

The closing ceremony for the memorial will take place at 1 p.m. on June 25.
Korean War memorabilia will also be on display and American Legion Post 36 will also have memorabilia on display at the Post, which is located at 1291 Oakwood Ave. all month until June 22.
