1 Dies From Injuries In Bilter Road Pond Crash: Aurora Police Update
The woman, a 23-year-old from Aurora, was pulled from a pond by two AFD divers and hospitalized in critical condition April 3.

AURORA, IL — A 23-year-old woman died April 4 from injuries sustained the previous day in a crash that ended with a car in a pond near Bilter Road and DuPage Parkway, according to police.
The woman, who was a passenger in the car, has been identified as Maria Gonzales, of the 1200 block of Coventry Place in Aurora. She was trapped in the car that rolled into a pond after crashing with another, which came to a stop after hitting a tree.
In the original joint statement from Aurora police and firefighters, officials identified the woman as a 24-year-old from West Chicago.

Four Aurora officers who arrived on the scene first attempted to save Gonzales, but it ultimately took two divers from the Aurora Fire Department's Water Rescue Team to bring her to shore, Patch reported. She was hospitalized in critical condition.
The driver, a 23-year-old Aurora man, was able to free himself and swim to shore, Patch reported. He and the second car's driver, a 45-year-old Aurora man, were hospitalized in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the police department's Traffic Division. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call 630-256-5330.
