Aurora Coronavirus Patient Dies; 3 More Cases Confirmed
The patient who died was a man in his 90s, city officials said.
AURORA, IL — Aurora has confirmed its first patient death due to coronavirus as three additional cases have been diagnosed in the city. The patient who died was a man in his 90s, according to a news release from the City of Aurora.
The death brings the statewide death toll to 16 at press time.
The news release said the three additional cases were diagnosed over the weekend. They are a woman in her 20s, a woman in her 30s and a woman in her 50s.

In a statement, Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin said, "We’ve been preparing for the inevitable news that COVID-19 is here and spreading. This weekend brought us news of confirmed cases, including residents and one of our APD supervisors, and the sad passing of one of our senior citizens. This is real, and we must all continue to do our part to stop the spread."

Irvin offered his condolences to the family of the patient who died. He said, "This is heartbreaking news for the family and for our community."
