Aurora Gas Station Sells $1 Million Winning Lottery Ticket

The owner of Aurora Shell, which sold the winning ticket, said he will share the business' $10,000 bonus with his staff.

AURORA, IL — One local lottery player will soon be $1 million richer after an Aurora gas station sold a winning Mega Millions ticket in Tuesday’s drawing. The winning ticket, which matched five of six numbers, was purchased at the Aurora Shell, located at 2112 Ogden Ave., according to the Illinois Lottery.

The gas station will receive a $10,000 bonus — 1 percent of the million-dollar prize — for selling the winning ticket. K. Belani, owner of the Aurora Shell, said he will share the bonus with his employees to help them amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to a news release.

"This is a rough time for everyone, I would like to share the bonus with my staff," Belani said.

The Mega Millions grand prize stands at about $298 million, according to the Illinois Lottery.
