Stab, Incised Wounds Cause Of Death For Aurora Woman, 55: Coroner

The woman's 20-year-old son was charged with two counts of first-degree murder after she was found dead in an apartment, police said.

AURORA, IL — A 20-year-old Aurora man was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder after his mother was found dead in an apartment Friday morning, according to police.

Police were dispatched to Edith Gonzalez-Alarcon's apartment in the 0-99 block of Jackson Place around 9:10 a.m. Friday after receiving a 911 call from a man reporting his brother came home and said he had "done something bad" to their mother, according to police. Officers said they found blood on the floor outside the apartment and the woman dead inside.

An autopsy performed by the Kane County Coroner's Office Monday determined Gonzalez-Alarcon's preliminary cause of death to be multiple stab and incised wounds. Results from toxicological evidence sent to a forensic lab are pending, officials said Tuesday.

After Gonzalez-Alarcon's body was found, officers "immediately requested" that Aurora Police Dispatch call the local police department in West Allis, Wisconsin, to respond to the son's reported location and detain him. Police took Abel Quinones-Herstad, 20, into custody without incident, officials said.

Detectives from APD's Bureau of Investigations responded to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the death, and evidence technicians collected forensic evidence. As part of the investigation, officers and detectives canvassed the neighborhood to collect personal information from neighbors. Detectives also went to the West Allis Police Department to interview the 20-year-old man and collect potential physical evidence, police said.
