Aurora Man Accused In Mother's Killing Extradited To Kane County: SA

AURORA, IL — A 20-year-old Aurora man accused of stabbing his mother to death in July was recently extradited to Kane County after fleeing to Wisconsin, officials said Monday.

Abel Quiñones-Herstad, of the 0-99 block of Jackson Place, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder in July after police say he stabbed Edith Gonzalez-Alarcon, 55, multiple times in the torso, killing her in the residence they shared, Patch reported.

After the incident, the man fled to West Allis, Wisconsin, and local police officers took him into custody in July after a Kane County judge issued a warrant for his arrest. Following a hearing, a Milwaukee County judge ordered Quiñones-Herstad to be extradited back to Kane County, officials said.

The 20-year-old recently appeared in Kane County bond court, where Judge Julia Yetter set his bail for $2 million, with 10 percent to apply. His next court appearance is set for Nov. 3 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
