Aurora Man Who Dressed As Wife, Tried To Kill Man Gets 48 Years
He'll likely spend the rest of his life in prison.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man has been sentenced to 48 years in prison after he donned his wife's dress and wig, broke into a home, and attempted to kill a man in 2014. Jermaine L. Baker, 40, was convicted in January of attempted murder, home invasion, and aggravated battery with a firearm in connection with the 2014 incident.
Baker was arrested on August 27, 2014 after he broke into the home of a male victim while the man was sleeping. Police say Baker, dressed as his wife, went into the man's room, kicked the bed, and said, "How do you want to die?"
Baker then reportedly used a 9mm semiautomatic gun to fire three shots at the victim, striking him in the forehead, cheek, jaw and hands.

The victim was then able to get away and call 911, which led to Baker's arrest.
Of Baker's conviction, Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said, “This is yet another crime rooted in domestic violence. Instead of acknowledging that his relationship with his estranged wife had ended, Mr. Baker instead chose to violently seek revenge through control and intimidation."
