Aurora Mom Charged With Murder After Battered Infant Dies
Police say the 6-month-old died of injuries caused when his mom slammed him against furniture in their home.
AURORA, IL — An Aurora woman has been charged with murder after her 6-month-old son died of injuries he sustained after she repeatedly slammed him against furniture, police said. Authorities charged Trivea Jones, 23, with two counts of first degree murder in connection with the alleged beating.
Jones's infant son was put on life support after police found him unconscious and not breathing in their home in the 2000 block of Fox Pointe Drive Friday evening. According to police, Jones initially said her son had stopped breathing while he was eating, but later admitted to slamming him against furniture in her house.
The child was pronounced dead June 25, police say.

After Jones's son died, the Kane County State's Attorney's Office upped her initial charges of battery to first degree murder charges.
Jones is currently being held in Kane County Jail on $2 million bond. If convicted, she faces up to 60 years in prison.
