Daughter Of Aurora Woman Killed In Crash Starts Fundraiser

A woman, whose mother and aunt were killed in a car crash Monday, created a fundraiser to help with funeral and memorial costs.

AURORA, IL — The college-aged daughter and niece of the two Aurora women killed in a tragic car crash in Batavia Monday afternoon has opened a fundraiser to help raise money for funeral and memorial expenses.

On Monday around 1:30 p.m., Violette Uwumuremyi, 50, and Anastasie Nyiramanyenzi, 58, both of the 800 block of South Lake Street in Aurora, were driving down North Kirk Road, just south of Giese Road, while on their way to work when they were killed.

In an attempt to lane change, Uwumuremyi, who was driving a Ford Taurus, hit a semi-truck, sending the car spiraling into oncoming traffic before landing on its roof, Patch reported. Both women were found dead when Batavia police arrived on the scene.

Fiston Ngirimana and her sister, Divine, created a GoFundMe campaign for their family members on Wednesday with a goal of $25,000. In the time since, the community has raised more than $6,500.

Ngirimana, who is a full-time college student, said the money raised will help her and her sister "very much" since both still relied on their "beloved mom and aunt," she wrote.

"Now that they are gone, I don't know what will be next, but with [these] funds, I will at least relieve the pain of spending both of these two dead bodies funeral home expenses," she wrote in the campaign's description.
