This Iconic American Band Is Coming To Aurora's RiverEdge Park This Summer

The band will bring its instantly recognizable California sound to Illinois's second-largest city.

AURORA, IL — An iconic American band is coming to Aurora this summer as the city reinvigorates RiverEdge Park after a year of closure and upgrades.

Synonymous with summer and the California lifestyle, The Beach Boys is bringing "The Sounds of Summer" tour to the downtown Aurora venue at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14.

It's been more than half a century since The Beach Boys began making music. The band's first hit, "Surfin'," dropped in 1961, and it was followed by dozens of other bangers, including "Wouldn't It Be Nice," "Surfin' USA and "God Only Knows." 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of "Pet Sounds," its 11th studio album.

The Beach Boys is no longer in its original form. Lead singer Mike Love, now 84, remains the only original member of the band who continues touring under the famous name. Brian Wilson, considered the creative force behind the group, died in June 2025.

RiverEdge Park was closed for the 2025 summer concert season but opened in November for the Christkindlmarket. The city decided to expand RiverEdge Park due to five years of continuously growing events and crowds, Patch reported.
