AURORA, IL — An Ohio man who falsely claimed to be missing child Timmothy Pitzen has reached a plea deal, according to NBC. Brian Michael Rini, 24, had previously pleaded not guilty to charges of lying to the FBI and aggravated identity theft.

No details of the plea agreement were available at press time. Rini's trial was initially set for June 2019, but was postponed after his mental competence came into question. In late October, Rini was found competent to stand trial.

Rini was arrested in early April after he was found in Kentucky acting disoriented and claiming to be Pitzen. Pitzen went missing in 2011 at age 6. He was last seen with his mother, who was found dead in a Rockford hotel after taking her own life. She left no information about Pitzen's whereabouts.
