• Grill Catches Fire, Spreads To Exterior Of Aurora House: FD (patch.com) — An outdoor grill fire on Aug. 20 spread from a deck to the roof of a Thurston Court home in Aurora, but firefighters quickly contained it and kept the house habitable with no injuries. Crews upgraded the blaze to a second alarm, sending 24 units, and officials are urging residents to keep grills well away from homes and never leave them unattended.

• Lack of flood insurance in Aurora area leaves widespread storm costs for residents (chicagotribune.com) — Many Aurora residents hit by early July flooding are discovering their standard homeowners or auto policies don't cover thousands in damage, leaving them to replace furnaces, water heaters and even cars out of pocket. Local officials are reopening a Ward 4 storm damage grant program, and federal disaster loans and state relief are now available, while experts urge residents to review policies and add key flood-related coverages.
