Election Results: Oberweis Holds On to 25th District State Senate Seat

He received 55.1 percent of the vote.

With 154 of 154 precincts reporting, Republican Jim Oberweis is projected to keep his seat in the 25th District of the State Senate.

Oberweis received 55.1 percent of the vote with 53,111 votes. Corinne Pierog has 44.9 percent of the vote with 43,250, according to unofficial results.

According to a mission statement on his website, Oberweis wants to encourage job growth through efficient, transparent, ethical state government with less regulation and lower taxes.

In a YouTube video posted by the Chicago Sun-Times, he said Illinois is in “terrible condition” and in need of balance and reforms.

He also believes in term limits, redistricting reforms and called for a property tax freeze and lawsuit reform.

Corinne Pierog said she believes in the protection of the middle class, establishing a realistic minimum wage and “insuring (sic) equitable educational possibilities for our children from early childhood to work force development,” according to her campaign page.

Pierog also wants to honor seniors and veterans and provide for those who suffer from a disability or mental illness.

In addition, she wants to grow “all of Illinois’ businesses” and initiate policies that assist families and communities.
