Stats Show Slow Spread Of Coronavirus In Geneva
Officials have confirmed 10 cases of the coronavirus in Geneva over the past 13 days, according to public health data.
GENEVA, IL — Coronavirus cases in Geneva spiked April 26, when 29 people were confirmed to have the coronavirus, but officials have reported just 10 cases since, according to public health data. Eighty-two Geneva residents have tested positive for the coronavirus, and 22 have died from related conditions, as of Friday, the data shows.

It is unclear how many of the city’s 82 cases and 22 deaths are linked to Bria of Geneva — which has seen one of the worst outbreaks of any long-term-care facility in the state — as statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health do not include detailed residency information.

Bria of Geneva Medical Director Phil Branshaw reported last week that 75 of the facility’s 90 residents tested positive, while 36 staff members also tested positive. Only three long-term-care facilities in Illinois have reported more deaths than Bria of Geneva, where 21 people have died, according to statistics released Friday.
