Surveillance Video Shows Tension, Terror Of Henry Pratt Shooting

The surveillance footage, which depicts the shooter waiting for police to arrive, was shared on the two-month anniversary of the shooting.

AURORA, IL — Two months after five people were slain in a mass shooting at Henry Pratt Manufacturing in Aurora, police have released some surveillance footage from the massacre. The video footage, shared on the Aurora Police Department's Facebook page, shows shooter Gary Martin lying in wait for officers as they prepare to storm the building.

Viewers can also see police officers as they ready their weapons and protective shields before entering the building and encountering the shooter.

Five Aurora police officers were injured by gunfire while responding to the According to police, Martin, who was armed with a pistol throughout the shooting, fired a total of 64 rounds.

In a disclaimer, Aurora Police say they carefully considered the "disturbing nature" of the images shown in the video footage. They said that for the sake of transparency, "we agree that you have a right to see for yourself what transpired at the Henry Pratt facility that day when, sadly, five members of our community lost their lives, and five of our police officers were shot while simply doing their jobs."

The video footage has been edited to protect the privacy of the involved officers and other parties, Aurora police said. They added that the video does not include footage from the inside the meeting where the shooting took place, as no surveillance footage was available from that room.
