Barrington Railroad Crossing Closing Continues Through Tuesday

In order to complete the repairs, Hough Street will also be closed at the crossing between Northwest Highway and James Street.

The Canadian National Railway will be closing the railroad crossing at IL Route 59, just south of IL Route 14, on Friday, Oct. 7, according to a news release. The crossing will reopen on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The closure is necessary for repairs at the grade crossing.

In order to complete the repairs, Hough Street will also be closed at the crossing between Northwest
Highway (U.S. 14) and James Street from Friday through Tuesday, according to a news release. A detour will
direct southbound Hough Street traffic east on Northwest Highway and west on Main Street to
reconnect with Hough Street. Northbound Hough Street traffic will take the reverse route.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are
urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits
and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
