Chinese Diplomat Will Visit Barrington Schools Wednesday

Consul General Hong Lei​ will learn about District 220's Chinese Immersion Program.

BARRINGTON, IL - A high ranking Chinese diplomat will visit three Barrington schools on Wednesday. Officials with Barrington School District 220 say Consul General Hong Lei will be at three district schools to learn more about the district's Chinese Immersion Program that's now in its seventh year.

Lei, who has served as head of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in Chicago since 2016, will visit sixth and seventh grade classrooms at Station Middle School from 10:30-12:20 p.m. and have lunch with various stakeholders. He will be at the Early Learning Center from 12:30 p.m. yo 1:10 p.m. to visit a kindergarten class and will conclude the day from 1:20 p.m. to 2 p.m. at N. Barrington Elementary School to visit with second and third graders.

Lei will also be given a tour of all three schools he visits.
