District 220 Parents, Students Can Sound Off Now on Different Start Times
Three different new start time options are currently on the table. The school board is expected to vote on the options on Nov. 1.

BARRINGTON, IL - Barrington Area Unit School District 220 parents, teachers and students will get the opportunity to share their opinion on three proposed options for new school start times in a survey that is expected to be distributed the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 27.
The online survey will also members of the school district community to share their thoughts on three different options for new starts times. The survey will be sent out to those signed up for the school district’s newsletter and a link to the survey will also be posted on the district's website.
Currently, District 220 students have the following schedule:

The District 220 Board of Education has been discussing changes to start times since May of 2015, with the hopes of setting a schedule that creates the optimal time for student learning.

Special town hall meetings have been scheduled for October where community members can speak with the Board of Education on start times:
- Tuesday, Oct. 11, 11 a.m., Langendorf Park Building
- Thursday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m., Barrington High School Guidance Resource Center
The board will continue to discuss the start time options at regularly scheduled and special board meetings through October before making a decision on Nov. 1. Those board meetings include:
- Tuesday, Oct. 4, 7 p.m., Barrington High School (Regular meeting)
- Tuesday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m., Barrington High School (Regular meeting)
- Monday, Oct. 24, 7 p.m., Barrington High School (Special meeting, if needed)
- Tuesday, Nov. 1, 7 p.m., Barrington High School (Regular meeting)
If the board decides to make a change in school start times, it would go into effect for the 2017-18 school year.
