Fillies Softball Repeat as Spring Fling Champions
Spring Fling championships continue to mount with win over Glenbrook North.

Three year varsity starter and junior infielder Loren Krzysko hasnβt lost a Spring Fling game in her career and in that time she has learned why this tournament is about more than just taking the trophy.
βThis is an important tournament to win because this starts the season off well.β she said following Barringtonβs 10-0 victory over Glenbrook North in the championship game.
The Fillies stay undefeated on the season after winning the three-game tournament (their seventh straight Spring Fling Championship) and Krzysko helped power Barrington through the tournament with three homeruns.

Krzyskoβs third bomb of the tournament came in the first inning and gave Barrington an early 2-0 lead over the Spartans (2-1).Β Krzysko would end the game (2 for 4) with the homerun and two runs batted in and ended the tournament 6-11 with 3 homeruns and 6 r.b.i.
βI hope to keep hitting the homeruns,β said Krzysko who set the team record for homers last year with 12. Β βBut really Iβm just looking to get on base by hitting the ball hard and making contact.β

Despite being staked to the early lead, Barrington didnβt much run support as a freshman pitcher stepped up big in the game.
βKeenan Dolezal did a real good job pitching her first career shutoutβ said Peterson of his pitcherβs four innings of scoreless, two hit ball.Β Dolezal, had a spectacular start to the season and is 3-0 with 12 strikeouts in 14 innings.
With Dolezal holding Spartan hitters in check, Barringtonβs offense went back to work quickly by scoring in every inning of the shortened game and found various ways to generate runs throughout the game.
βWe manufactured runs and I liked the intensity of our offense,β Barringtonβs varsity softball coach Perry Peterson said.Β βWe scored in every inning of a championship game against an undefeated team and thatβs impressive.β
The Fillies did well getting on base whether it was capitalizing on Spartan errors (ended with 6) or hits from junior catcher Savonnah Osmanskiβs (2 hits, 2 r.b.i.) and fourth year starter Jordan Wekonyβs two hits.Β Wekony had 6 hits during the three games and knocked in 5.
βWe made some mistakes,β Glenbrook North coach Jennifer Schultz said.Β βThis was a great opportunity for us to learn and see how a good team manufactures runs.β
Barrington created opportunities for scoring with menacing base stealing and aggressively taking the extra base as they cruised to the 10-0 victory
β(Danielle) Di Iorio was very impressive on the bases today.βΒ Krzysko said of the senior outfielder who found ways to get that extra base.
βWe have the mindset as a team that if they make a mistake or an error, we have to capitalize,β Krzysko went on to say.Β βItβs the way we play and everyone did well.β Β Β Β Β
