• 'The community wants this place open': Catlow owner donates theater to foundation By Steve Zalusky (barringtonhillsobserver.com) — Barrington's historic Catlow Theatre is being donated by the Long family to the new Catlow 1927 Foundation, which will manage programming and operations as a nonprofit. Announced at Barrington's White House, the move comes after raising half of a $6 million goal and is intended to secure the nearly century‑old venue's future for generations of local residents. 
• 'Throwing dollars out the window': Diesel spike hits truckers and farmers, with consumers in the crosshairs (dailyherald.com) — Barrington village president and trucking executive Mike Moran warns that soaring diesel prices are adding nearly a dollar per mile to his company's costs, squeezing margins and pushing up shipping rates. Trucking leaders and farmers across Illinois say the spike, worsened by refinery issues and global conflicts, will soon show up in grocery and holiday shopping bills.
