Raja Raises One Million Dollars

Raja reaches $1 million fundraising milestone in race to succeed Rep. Tammy Duckworth in Illinois' 8th District.

Today, Raja Krishnamoorthi announced his campaign for Congress raised over $1 million since he entered the race for Illinois’ 8th District in April.

Raja reached the $1 million milestone after a summer of strong campaigning, when he collected endorsements from over 100 leaders and organizations including David Axelrod, former Senior Advisor to President Obama, and 13 members of Congress including Democratic Caucus Vice Chair Rep. Joe Crowley, Democratic Caucus Chair of Policy and Messaging Rep. Steve Israel, and Rep. Jan Schakowsky.

Raja recently announced the support of the Illinois State Council of Machinists, which represents over 33,000 Illinois workers, and the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 2.

Earlier this month, the Cook Political Report declared Raja the “favorite” in Illinois 8th District race, and the Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report projected Raja was the “frontrunner” to succeed Rep. Tammy Duckworth in Congress.

Raja Krishnamoorthi currently serves as President of Sivananthan Labs and Episolar, Inc., small businesses that sell products in the national security and renewable energy industries. He is a co-founder of InSPIRE, a non-profit organization that provides training to Illinois students and veterans in solar technology, and was formerly Vice-Chairman of the Illinois Innovation Council, whose mission is to promote innovative technologies that support economic growth and job creation in Illinois. Raja resides in Schaumburg with his wife, Priya, and their two sons.
